Pushing through the rut.... lamely.

I've not done any real art/illustration all summer. Needed a good break from uni and I'll be honest with you... my pens ran out. They ran out and the stupid university is moving the art department to gawd knows where and just to really kick us all while were down threw the art shop away too. The only place I could get my damn pens. :/ Jotter does em but they never replenish their stock and don't do customer orders apparently. Why stock them at all?? FOOLS!

Anyway here's some of my lamo first attempts after months of abstinence. They're NOT finished! I would not put this tripe on line if it were finished and if I wasn't trying to re-boot my groove.

Anyway here it is. Don't ask me what they are, just half finished doodles.

This ones sorta based on a character in a children's book I'm writing but it's a bit more blahh ! ?

I'm finding this blog good actually. No one bar the occasional Trish? lol reading it atm yet here it is on the web, it's oddly liberating and quite motivational.

Gee I'm feeling all sombre, dunno why... oh well pip pip.

Save the dates in progress:

with all the weddingy chopping and changing and fussing and messing one thing remains constant: My save the dates! I've done just over 20 so far.

Sneaky malteser bag got in there lol

Ta daaaa! Not finished yet though, still need to put the magnet on the back, add the date (duh) and fill that right hand corner, haven't decided with what yet.

And then a dog unwittingly declared war...

This handsome pup is the newest addition to the family.

Gentle trusting eyes.... how could they comprehend the wrath of Ajax and.......... 'the cat.'

WRATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh I wish I had a photo of Ajax and the cat's new alliance.  Think the 'soon to be ball and chain' may have one on his phone but until confirmed a description will have to do.

Anecdote time!!

.........................................

Since the arrival of the pooch Ajax and........... 'the cat' have become very pally. TOO pally. Napping together, letting one sit on the others back, talking in whispers. That sorta thing. It was cute, it was charming.... little did we know.

The inevitable meet and greet with the new arrival commenced soon after. DISASTER. Dog narrowly escaped with face. I don't mean face as in pride, I mean literally her face.

The plans continued.

Then one day last week all unfolded! Dog was lured around the back to......... 'the cat's' territory and Ajax's look out point of the bedroom window. But where was she? ........'the cat' was gone! Dog is puzzled, anxious to meet new cranky friend again. Ohhh poor hound be careful what you wish for. ..........'the cat' descends upon the head of the unsuspecting pooch from the roof, claws extended teeth barred in a chillingly precise tactic of fear and aero dynamic hatred!!! Dog is bewildered, attempts a hug, .........'the cat'!....... is gone.

Dog is really confused now. What's with this house-mate? Doesn't she know German shepherds X Rottweilers are the friendliest, daftest and most intelligent dogs in the world??? What's her beef??

She follows on, eager to settle differences but to no avail. .......'The cat' suddenly appears from the left and goes for the eyes! Pooch doges blow and attempts to lick ..........'the cat's'  enraged and flabbergasted face.

Finally ...........'The cat'  rolls her eyes crosses her paws and saunters off to join her partner in crime on the bedroom windowsill to formulate another plan.

Dog sees a bee and squishes it while trying to give it a hug.

The end.

Art storming: Yeah!

Art storming event for my parents team building company: Just had to put these up, so so so impressed, I've seen stuff way worse than this in the Uni's 3rd year fine art show over the years!

Just flippin gorgeous really!

I almost forgot about the wedding.

I'm getting married next August (fingers crossed church hall isn't under construction... don't ask. ) Hubby to be and I want a small, family and close friends sorta affair, no ice swans or 12 bridesmaids! We also aren't too keen on a reception, it being pretty much self funded and us being pretty much skint. My idea is to have an early wedding followed by photo's, bucks fizz and cakes in the church hall and then a small family only affair for a wedding brunch, and then we drive off into the.... sun which has been risen for some time but not enough to set. Yeah.... in theory anyway. (ref. first line of post tschh!)

Anyways I was considering making at least some of the cuppy cakes myself! Here is my first attempt:

nom

But mum has gently been picking away at this idea (NO MUM IT WILL NOT BE TOO MUCH TO DO THE DAY BEFORE THE WEDDING OMG OMG..... lol)

So i dunno, maybe, maybe not. Either way these did not help with the pre-wedding dieting!!

Don't looks too close at the nasty cake tin...........

wait here my pretties mwahah hah

Primarily an art blog.... partly dragon.

Since I left Uni I have done this!!......

My mum is launching her new 'wedding coach' business. Pretty awesome idea actually, I really need to get around to telling all the frazzled people I know who are heading for the sea of matrimony! lol
Her website is under construction atm but i think her twitter is up and running @FeelGdWeddings. (Don't quote me on that though!)

I have also been working on my sisters birthday presents.

Like most graduates. (S*** I'm a graduate...... just hit me finally wow) I am skint. But my beloved sister's birthday is looming! What to do??

I went down the hippy 'make everything bar the lady gaga album'  route. First I made her, her v own stuffed owl. Have you noticed owls are all the rage? Especially stuffed ones or ones dangling off ears and they seem to be adored by the teeny bopper in particular. My sister is no exception.  Unfortunately I didn't take a picture and it's wrapped so.... sorry. But yeah I did that. I reckon she'll like it.

I also made my own wrapping paper from brown parcel paper (V cheap if you know where to  look) aaand potato stampers! Remember those happy nursery days making pretty pictures with the good old potato? Yeah well go back and try it now, it's weirdly therapeutic and you feel all smug and amazing thinking how much money you saved on wrapping paper, You'll like it so much you'll get hooked and spend the next 3 days making wrapping paper whenever possible! Honestly you will. It's the lazy persons answer to penny pinching/creativity/stress busting. DO ITT!

I then went on to make a gift bag out of the Lush times courtesy of some clever blog found on stumble upon.  Looks pretty pretty pretty good. (...Curb has become a tad addictive since graduating.)

(had to edited out all the turquoise coz you just could not see for all the weird turquoisy light for whatever reason. That cushion is bright aqua marine.... kinda prefer the grey though now!)

Other than that not much has been going down in the art department. I've been job hunting. Had an interview on Friday but alas didn't get any where. Did get a volunteer  opportunity though.

Soooo I'll move onto Ajax.

Ajax is as abrasive as the cleaning product and crazy fearless as the Warriors character.

He is also......

JAFFA CAKE ORANGE!!!

(well the middle bit of the jaffa... yeah whatever you get it.)

He is a very handsome boy from a rather impressive parentage. His mum is second generation sandfire ranch and his daddy (who he takes most after physically) is fire and ice super tangerine x blood red.

He is the sweetest little dragon ever but he WILL attempt spider man acrobatic feats at the expense of your eyes, skin.... cat.

He was my Valentines day present after Ernie, my partner and I's first beardie, sadly died. (Don't think I'll ever stop missing old Ern) and so AJ is spoiled rotten!!....

He even sometimes sleeps on the chair next to us at night! (this was taken night before last and he's in shed atm so he's not his usual gingery self! lol)

Everyone adores AJ. Even my nan with a reptile phobia has been partially cured by the handsome charming good natured little guy! There is just something about him, maybe it's hand reared hatchling beardies everywhere, Ernie was equally as charming, but AJ... everyone falls in his presence.

He is also my art coach. He LOVES using my art folders as slides and my pens as hurdles! At first it was distracting but now it's oddly inspiring. It's like his energy rubs off! lol

Ajax is AWESOME!
